Our MetalTrack team constantly work on the software to ensure it is completely up to date with the very latest cyber
security and browser updates, many of which as users are never seen in the “front end” of the software. However, our
support team and programming teams regularly look at how we can improve the software for our users and where
possible add new features and functions to hopefully ensure the MetalTrack software works for our clients.
This latest release covers a number of security and browser updates but we are pleased to announce some additional
features and functions that all users will have access to, these updates include:
- Twain Scanner – this is a periodic update that is required to scan IDs into the system, each machine that
uses MetalTrack requires this update and will be prompted to download automatically if required.
- Lock-Unlock – This is a new feature found within the user information under the Site Admin tab. Site
Administrators can lock users out of the system or Unlock users if they have entered an incorrect password too
many times.
- Categorising Suppliers – some scrap metal yards record EWC codes differently depending on who the metals
are purchased from. This extra field can also be used for categorizing your supplier base to extract for
marketing or targeting (if required). You can now set up Supplier Categories such as Domestic, Trade, Demolition
etc. These Purchase Metal Categories are added under the Site Admin tab , where you can then add the different
EWC codes under the Purchase Metals section – our support team would be happy to offer any advice, guidance or
support with this if required.
- ID Changes
- MetalTrack will now show a historic record of each ID used by supplier. To further support the
requirements within the Scrap Metal Dealers Act it will regularly prompt and record checks when the ID
has expired or requires a review.
- An audit trail will show all ID’s associated with a supplier on the Identification tab.
- The current ID will be attached to the Waste Transfer Note in MetalTrack for each transaction so you can
bring this up more easily.
- File Upload – under the tab of identification, we have added the ability to add other upload files
such as certificates, images or notes to an account. The ‘Other’ option allows you to “name” each upload so its
easy for you to find attachments and items like the utility bills etc.
- Transactions Tab (within account record)
- A year filter has been added to search more easily a customer’s history
- You may notice additional icons next to the transaction list, this is to show the ID is included along
with if you have uploaded a photo of the material, paid by cheque, or recorded signature
- Season Tickets (new feature) within purchase account record
From several conversations with scrap yards across the country we have found that “Season Tickets” are generated for
your supplier accounts. From the main account record you will find that there is now a “season ticket” tab – on
selection you will be prompted to select a Date Range, the metals headers you wish to cover and then Generate. This
will provide a Season Ticket into the list below that can then be printed or emailed to customers.
A report is also available in the Admin that will show all active Season Tickets.
We continue to work on this section and so please provide us feedback on any thoughts or changes. A future function
will be available to renew multiple tickets with ability to print and email in bulk. Our support team would be happy
to receive any feedback or offer any advice, guidance or support with this if required.
- General Updates
- Added “Search” option within supplier area for telephone and mobile numbers.
- For emailing a Waste Transfer Note you can now attach other items to your email such as letters etc.
- When paying by BACS MetalTrack will now automatically select the Bank Account to pay out with less
clicks.
- Additional security protocol to avoid duplicate transactions within BACs report.
Our support and programming teams continue to develop the software to ensure it meets the requirements of our valued
scrap metal dealer customers. As always we remain committed to supporting this much loved industry and we value any
ideas from dealers with improvements or additional features they think would be required in the future.
